We are at it again and this time doing something big! Starting Saturday, March 25th we are excited to announce the launch our Serving Saturdays! So what is Serving Saturdays? Starting in March and then the remainder of the year one Saturday a month cityfam will host a Day of Service. These days of service will be focused on engaging our current and newest members to form bonds with each other by actively working with local organizations that serve our community and its population. These events could be small to large, and will be all across the city and county! Since we like to do things big, we figured that the kick-off event had to be big!
For Saturday, March 25th we will be looking to having over 100+ Volunteers as we have partnered with the YMCA of Central Maryland from 10a-2pm where we will be bringing out volunteers to help with their annual Spring Extravangza at 5 different locations! Volunteers will be helping set-up and tear down for this event along with working with the participants one-on-one throughout the day for lots of fun activities dying eggs, manning the Corn-Hole Station (maybe able to even sneak in a few games) and assisting with a variety of arts & crafts stations! Specific addresses and information for each location is included once you sign up but we will be serving at the following YMCA's: The Weinberg Y in Waverly; YMCA in Towson, YMCA in Abingdon, YMCA in Catonsville and YMCA in Ellicott City.
We will also be partnering with Baltimore Station a non-profit that serves three meals a day, seven days a week to homeless veterans. cityfam will have the honor to prepare & serve a lunch from 9a-1pm.
The St. Francis Center one of our non-profit partners from MLK Day has also joined on for our first Serving Saturdays and has a whole list of activities that does include manual work both inside and outside (i.e. prepare to get dirty!). Hours are 10a-2pm and Parents are welcome to bring children as long as they are supervised.
And because we like to reward our volunteers for their time and commitment we will be hosting an exclusive after-party just for the Volunteers of our first Serving Saturdays and we will be going to
Mo's Seafood White Marsh located at 9727 Pulaski Highway from 2:30-5pm. We will have an Open Buffet which will include mussels & garlic, steamed shrimp, buffalo chicken bites, chicken fettuccine buffet style and soda and iced tea!
